Intervention in a public square through digital printing of ceramic tiles

My Project was selected to be published and exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts of Castellon, Spain

Role: author

Workshop held at the Technological Institute of Ceramic of Castellon, Spain

Location: Valencia, Spain

Year: 2007

I was selected to participate in a workshop in Spain while I was studying at the University of Valencia. The organizers of the workshop were behind the ceramics for some amazing projects like the Spanish Pavilion of the Expo 2015 or the Expo 2008.

During the workshop, we learned about urban planning specifically focused on creating public squares and different ways to work with ceramics. The aim of the workshop was to refurbish a square in Castellon with the use of digital printing by designing a ceramic floor in the city.

With this objective in mind, I came up with the idea of taking the house out onto the street. Since the project has a Mediterranean climate, it is a great opportunity to encourage the neighbour to share a common space as if they were sharing their own living room.

I called the project The house on the street and as the name suggests, it intended to create a domestic environment in the street, creating ceramic carpets that zoned spaces and remember the floors of the old houses. The solid furniture goes with each ambience and at the same time is complemented by the light.
